CD cover

The blank, black and white makes the CD cover look mature and sophisticated. The colours on the cover contrast each other, this makes the text stand out more than it would with another colour. This will draw the eye of people who may not listen to them. This will expand their overall audience, which is what the band/ producers want. The audience that I think this album is being aimed at is ABC1.

There is a lot of empty space on this cover which shows that maybe this is will have more serious, slower songs in it. Also the names of the songs suggest that the album is more serious, e.g. shiver, everything's not lost, we never change, etc. the songs in the album is in a small font and just reach the middle of the square, this shows that they may not want to be big and flashy (this goes with the colour scheme). they may have made the font small so you have to pick it up to read rather than a quick scan over it. The title of the album is bolder and bigger than the bands name, this may show that they want you to see the title of the album first as it is more important.

The colour scheme on this album cover is much brighter than the other, it is black and yellow. These two colours contrast in a way that it doesn't look mature, it looks more 'rebellious'. By using these colours it doesn't make the audience think the same as the one before as these colours are bright, this assures the audience that the songs within are not slow and serious. The audience that i think this album is aimed for is C2DE.

To second the point of this album not being slow and serious the names of the songs also show this, urban ballroom, fat boy scoop, thats a nice way to give me feedback, etc. They have a theme for this cover, which is an airport terminal, this is show in the way they have presented the names of the songs (like the old information boards) and the plane on the front cover.  The information board font is consistent for the majority of the text, the rest is the producers logo and the legal parts of the cover. The name of the album is on a slant, in parallel to the plane wings, which shows again that this is not entirely serious. Where they have put the names of the songs is central so it draws the eyes to the centre point of the back cover.

Double spread

This double page spreads colour scheme is very appealing to a younger audience as it is grey, white, black and pink. these colours all are used to make parts of the text to stand out, e.g. the quote at the top, the part in pink stands out as something of importance in the sentence. also the grey background with the white dots round the edge of the page makes the article look more 'urban'. The pink text is pointing out the basic important information for the readers who might not know much about him. The top text is white and pink on a black background to make the text look bolder. Also the font size varies as this artist isn't a mature artist. The questions that are asked can be found easily as they are black on a white backgrounds they are more profound. The text for the answers are just a black text.

Before the text goes into the interview it tell the reader a bit more about him, this means that if a reader doesn't know who he is then they can get some context to the interview. The interview is very casual as the questions are informal, e.g. 'Does Davey Havoc ever have a casual Friday?' Also the type of questions used are open (makes the person answering explain themselves rather than just saying yes or no). This makes the text more personal and makes it seem like they are talking the audience. some are more open then others, e.g. 'Whats your secret?' compared to 'Is image important to a rock star?' this is more open as the second question is still a yes or no question, as the first will get a more personal response.

The page layout has made it look like it has a lot of text where it actually doesn't, this has been done to tempt fans of Davey Havoc to read as they might find something new out about him. also by having the sublime quite big they have taken up a lot of the space. The mid shot picture of him next to the text for people who can recognise him by looks but not name, also is has him in a nice t-shirt posing looking right at the camera so it makes it again more personal to the audience. The majority of the text is on the right page and do not go over the little white dots whereas the picture of him does overlap the dots making it seem like he is more important.
